FU to Kindle question

If you do have the Kindle, do you have the wifi version or wifi plus 3G? I am unclear of the difference. Thanks!

i don't have the kindle but have nook/ipad.

basically a wifi + 3g costs more because you have to have a data plan and pay monthly. the upside is it will connect to the network pretty much anywhere, so you can download books anywhere.

the wifi only means that you have to be logged into a network ie. your home internet, panera, etc to be able to download books.

sorry if this is more confusing...i'd also lurk on the book club board for this too.

i don't have the 3g for my nook or ipad and it's never been an issue.

I have the 3G + Wifi and there are no extra monthly fees for internet access, it's free.  You can download your books right on the Kindle since it can connect automatically.  For the little bit extra, I thought that it was worth it.

I have the 3G.  I believe the difference is that the WIFI lets you access internet when you are in a WIFI hot spot (like a coffee shop, or at your house with wireless internet, etc.), the 3G lets you access the internet anywhere.  I think it's because it runs through cell phone towers maybe?  But you don't have to pay a data fee or internet fee to use it and it works great!  The 3G is a little more expensive but I use it and love it and the 3G version also has WIFI if you want to save the battery a little and use that while you're at a WIFI hotspot.
