The Power of the Maine Nesties

Have you ever thought of the power of the Maine Nesties?

I was thinking of this while I was up nursing in the middle of the night.

When someone is down we rally around them and provide support. When someone is up we celebrate with them. When someone needs juju we all think about them and if you pray then you pray for them. I wonder if there are other local boards like ours...I kind of doubt it. We're pretty amazing.

And the kicker is that some of us have never met or have only met one or twice.

I bet if we really tried we could have powers like The Craft.

Re: The Power of the Maine Nesties

  • Agreed- 110%!

The power of Maine Nestie Juju is an impressive force, not something to be taken lightly, and it's pretty amazing that a group of people that only somewhat know each other in real life can be so supportive of each other through triumph and tragedy. Kudos to you all!

Sidenote: I effing loved The Craft in high school, I totally would have died to be Robin Tunney, although Faruza Balk still scares the hell outta me. Wink

  • Totally agreed!

I have only met one Maine Nestie IRL but we are a pretty awesome group.

  • Ohh we could save a lot on going to the hair salon because we could just shake or heads and have a different hair style/color! (I loved that part!)

Though I am still new and not one as much, I always appreciate having the ladies of this board to ask advice...you all are really awesome!

  • I also loved The Craft, though it really isn't a very good movie!  I like it even more because one of the chicks is also the white trash, scary girlfriend in The Waterboy!

As for the Maine Nesties, I always feel that you guys are truly my family here in Maine. You are fun for social things, helpful for random requests, and loving in times of need. it's a very sincere online community and I always feel the love. Without the Maine Nesties, I'd have little to no friends here... and that's not an exageration!

I'm on a mommy message board that is national, well international since we've got a bunch of Canucks. It's a pretty small, tight knit group, but it isn't quite the same camraderie as here. I go there to talk about my kid and all the adorable/frustrating details that you guys really don't need to get bogged down in day to day. I've met a few of them, and there are definitely some awesome connections I've made, but I would not bring something really painful or needy to them- it isn't the same as here. This is my internet home. Left HugRight Hug

  • Agreed.  You guys definitely make me feel a little less homesick for Virginia (which I'm sure DH unknowingly thanks you for - I've been lobbying constantly for three years to move back).  Not that I've met any of you.  But still.  It's hard to make friends in a new place, and that's one of the big reasons that I've really been pushing to go back.  Having this at least takes the edge off.
  • It is a great board!  I love that when I come to Maine now, I usually have a couple of friends to see.  :-)  Even though MH finds it a little strange.  ;-)
  • Agreed. We have a fabulous group of girls here. The best thing is some come and go, but the sentiment of the group remains. I was also new to Maine and have made some great friendships from here. DH has gotten used to it and no longer calls you my "online" friends :) I don't put "Knottie GTG" or "Nestie GTG" on my calendar anymore, just GTG :)
  • I love the Maine Nesties! I've been to a few GTG's and met several of you in person and I agree that we're all a pretty fab group of ladies. :)
