Sewing machine trouble shooting

My sewing machine keeps pulling on threads in my fabric. I've tried re-threading the bobbin and thread.  Is there something else I should check?  I don't want to pay to have it serviced if it's an easy fix.

If it helps any, I'm using an Brothers SE-350 on cotton fabric with cotton thread.

Re: Sewing machine trouble shooting

  • Have you changed your needle?  Also, make sure you are sewing with the appropriate size/style of needle for your fabric.

    This.

If you have ran over any pins you might have broken/dulled the tip without even realizing it.

  • It is definitely most likely the needle; also make sure that you are using a sharp point (not ball point).
