If your birthday was coming up and your mom and husband asked you what you wanted, what would you tell them?

Re: What would you want?
A salad spinner.
Seriously, that's what I told my mom that I wanted for my birthday this year.
I told my husband that I want travel cosmetic bags like this: http://www.wrapables.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=A61239&cate3=060207.
I'm pretty easy to please!
Oh man, it seems like I've been giving L a running list of all the things I want and now I can't think of any of them. Hmm...
Here are some things that are on my list in general:
-Shoes
-Aveda Green Science Firming Face Creme
-GCs to B&N, Starbucks, or Banana Republic
-Etsy jewelry
A panini press.
And of course money towards a new lens or two.
I usually just ask them to take us out to eat or for a GC somewhere.
Love the etsy jewelry idea too.
All I can think of right now is a kayak and a tent. Neither are good birthday presents because we're going to get them eventually. I'm at a loss...grrr.
Diana, did you download The Front Porch Prophet from Free Fridays? (I think that is what it's called.) I'm reading it right now and am surprisingly really enjoying it.
No, I've all but given up on Free Fridays.
If I see a title that I recognize or something that looks really good, I'll bite. But right now my nook is so full of free Friday crap that I'll never read. I wish that B&N would run nook promotions like they do for paper books (buy 2, get 1 free) and that they had a better selection of "bargains". I know a lot of that is highly dependant on publishers. I also wish that no ebook was ever more than $9.99. That's my personal threshold for how much I'll spend on digital content.
I guess I'm not picky enough. Or too cheap! And not too hard to please. Haha. I download about 90% of the Free Friday selections. I have only paid for 3 books thus far, and I think 2 of them were covered with a giftcard.
I did want to buy The Help, but I could not justify spending $14.99 on it (that's how much it was at the time...I think it's lower now.)
So FF it is for me, at least until I'm a millionaire.
Oh yeah, I used to download FF pretty much every week. And then I realized that most of those were books I wasn't interested in, so why bother just because they were free. I also have a lot of the B&N classics that I got for free because they ran a promo on many of them.
I think the only book I paid for was "Rome" which was on sale for $1.99.
I have been in a super-rut with reading this year and haven't felt very enthusiastic about most of what I've read. Also, I have several paper books that I own or have borrowed to read through and I have quite a few credits to spend on Paperbackswap, which will keep me in paper books for some time. For some reason I hate the idea of buying an ebook (at any price other than free) and having it sit on my nook for weeks, months or years. I didn't have this problem with paper books. I would buy bargains frequently and they would sit on my shelves for ages. I love reading on my nook, but getting books I want to read there is proving to be a bit of a challenge.
- A puppy
- A new purse, scarves, earrings, etc.
- Beer, good coffee, good food, etc.
Nothing much is really coming to mind. I'm not picky, but there's not a lot of things I really want (and/or need).
Salon/Spa GC
Coffee
New Thermos
Nice body scrub
Macy's GC for make up
Gourmet Cupcakes
Nice bottle of wine (I'm not going to be pg forever!)
Kasa, salad spinner is on my list too! When we registered for our wedding, I wanted one, Jim talked me into a cheaper, smaller one. I vividly remember that, and I'm regretting that I gave in on that one.
I asked for the movie Big Fish for my birthday. Now it's on my Christmas (mental) list.
If my birthday were in the summer, I'd ask for a big bowl of fresh fruit, a bed wish fresh sheets, a book, and 4 hours alone.
