Tricare question

I've never posted here before but believe you might be the people to ask.  My H was medically discharged/retired; I'm not sure which or if there's a difference.  We recently got married and are having an issue with the DEERS system to get me and my son enrolled in Tricare.  Does anyone know if there are pregancy pre-existing conditions with Tricare?  I'm just wondering how careful we need to be right now since I currently have no insurance until this is straightened out.

  • No. There is no clause for Pre-existing conditions.

  • There can be headaches and hassles with Tricare, but, pre-existing conditions is NOT one of them! Best of luck getting DEERs worked out and with your pregnancy.

There is a difference between medically separated and medically retired.  Whole different ballgame.

  • Thanks for the link!  He has the blue ID card and it looks just like my dad's retired military card so I'm guessing medically retired but I saw at one point someone said that medically retired was supposed to draw VA disability AND retirement and he only gets disability.

They were wrong. Stick out tongue  VA disability and military retirement are two completely separate pots of money with their own qualifications.  You were right about the blue ID = retiree.  Medically separated people usually have the tan card.
