The Dolphin In-water Adventure at the Indy Zoo
DH and I live in Cincinnati and are looking to maybe do the dolphin exhibit at the Indianapolis zoo. I want to know if anyone has done this or known someone who has. I would appreciate any information you can give me. I've been on the website but I was hoping for some more pesonal detials. Thanks!
Re: The Dolphin In-water Adventure at the Indy Zoo
I think you are talking about the thing where you go and swim with them and all of that right? I don't know anyone personally who has done it but I have heard generally good things.
I haven't had any experience with it, nor know of anyone who has done it. I also have a biased opinion as someone that worked at the Indy Zoo (seven years ago in a diff. area) and knew the trainers for the dolphins and hearing about some of the behavioural issues they had. Some of us (old trainers that stay in touch) are concerned about the decision for the exhibit.
I'm also biased in the fact that I am of the belief that while the animals are "tamed and trained," they are still animals and animals can be unpredictable in their behaviour some times (just asked me how many times I was kicked or bit by the horses at the zoo or horned by the bovine).
It's probably a really neat experience that isn't offered at too many zoos though!
