Menu ideas needed for 1st birthday
Hello. I need some menu ideas for my DD's 1st birthday party. It's a Sugar & Spice theme. We're having a candy table and also serving cupcakes. I'm at a loss for the main course, sides and salads though. The easier the better.
TIA.
Re: Menu ideas needed for 1st birthday
A couple of questions that will help us personalize a menu for you--
How many adults and how many kids? Do you want two separate menus/main dishes (one for adults and one for kids) or one menumain dish that appeals to all?
Are you going for buffet? What time is the party?
Is grilling an option?
How much time do you have to prepare?
Do you have any guests that have dietary needs?

We grilled brats early the morning of, and then put them in a crockpot to stay warm. It only took like 20 min. Then I had a mini crockpot with cocktail franks for the kids. We used potato rolls, and had ketch/must/relish/onion/ kraut for fixings. I felt it was super easy, but a little nicer than just hot dogs/burgers.You could do a salad, and a fruit salad, and pickles on the side.
Not sure if you want themed foods. Otherwise have "sweet" relish, and maybe some type of potato salad with herbs to make its a "spice." Or you could put cinnamon on the fruit salad.
Decorate with rock candy and cinnamon sticks in little vases or something...
random ideas: cinnamon rolls, spice cake, chicken wings (spicy), veggies with a spicy ranch dip, apple pie, sugar cookies, crockpot of chili, chips with queso dip (nacho cheese and rotel mixed)....
For a main dish, do pulled pork or pulled chicken in the Crock Pot and serve with a sweet BBQ sauce and a spicy BBQ sauce.
Sides: Coleslaw (this one has both sugar and spice in it and it my fav slaw ever), baked beans (again, has both sugar and spice), potato salad and/or deviled eggs with smoked paprika on it/them, fruit with cinnamon-cream cheese dip, fruit salsa with cinnamon pita chips and hot salsa with tortilla chips. Have small bowls of sugar-spiced nuts and popcorn sprinkled with cinnamon sugar around for guests to snack on.
