Detergent Question

I have been making my own detergent for a few years now.  I have always made the liquid version.  However the lazy in me right now is thinking about just making the powder version of it.  Didn't know if anybody had tried making the powdered vs the liquid and if you liked one over the other?  Thanks!

Re: Detergent Question

  • I don't know how to make detergent or how much $ it saves you but I really like using free/clear versions of Tide and Purex (which ever is on sale).  I wash all our clothes in it so I don't have to do separate loads for our LO.

For us it saves a TON.  I spend maybe $4 on making 4 gallons of detergent when I do the liquid version.  And those 4 gallons normally last us around 3 months.

  • I have made the powder version for years and it has recently started clogging up my washer :( So I think I"m going to switch to liquid.  I bought a bottle because I felt to lazy to make the liquid but I will start! This is the push I needed thanks!

  • We have to use powder for our cloth diapers (unless someone knows of a liquid?) and I feel like the powder doesn't always dissolve as well, thus not cleaning the clothes as well.
