Suggestions for Cleaning Glass Shower Door?

We have a glass door on our shower and when we moved in there was hard water, and thus hard water "stains" on the glass. We installed a softener and its not a prob anymore but no matter how much myself or the cleaning lady scrub the door appears to have water spots all over it because of previous hard water damage. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this off the glass? Every bathroom cleaner has failed us and I am ready to just get new doors! I will try anything, thanks ladies!

Re: Suggestions for Cleaning Glass Shower Door?

  • Have you tried one of the CLR cleaners? They should cut through the hard water deposits no problem. You might also try some vinegar. It'll stink for a bit, but I've always heard about vinegar doing wonders.
  • I would love the solution too, my shower has the same freaking problems and it's so embarassing!
  • I hate that we have a shower with a glass door at the apartment. When we get the door clean, there's still always some mildew in the groove. The house has a regular shower with shower curtain upstairs, and then the main floor bathroom has a door. I told FI that either the door is coming off, or all showers happen upstairs. I'm sick of cleaning this ***. I guarantee you that the current owners don't use the downstairs shower. It's so clean! They also have a curtain up OVER the door so you don't even see it.
  • Throw them out!  HA!  Seriously Matt's garden tub had glass shower doors and when I moved in I made him take them down.  I hated them but I hated how dirty they stayed.
  • I use scrubbing bubbles to clean the bathtub and glass doors. I this that it really works well. In between deep cleaning I sometimes spray everything down with diluted bleach which helps too. I would prefer a curtain but you can't have everything in apartment life.

  • I would try white vinegar first, and if that doesn't work, try CLR. If that doesn't work, then I am out of change!

I swear by vinegar. I clean almost everything with it. The smell of white vinegar dissipates very very quickly, and then it just leaves a fresh scent. I've been meaning to get CLR forever for our bathroom. We have all sorts of white/blue/rust deposits in our old ass bathroom, and my friend told me to get some the first time she saw it. I can't wait to see if it works wonders.

  • Vinegar I have so I will try that and if not CLR it is! Thanks! I totally agree though that I prefer a shower curtain, you just replace the liner and you dont have to worry about it!  DH prefers the look of the glass doors but its such a PIA!!
