Hi ladies! Sorry to post this on your board but I need some advice from locals!
I will be traveling to NYC in August with my DH and DS (who is just shy of 2 years old).
I would love some recommendations of family friendly restaurants that we can go to. We will be staying at Jumeirah Essex House, but don't have to stay in that area for dinner. DS is very well behaved and we take him to nice places here (and random strangers will compliment us on his behavior!!), but I definitely don't want to go somewhere super fancy and disturb anyone.
Also, any recommendations on babysitting services? DH & I are considering going to a show and getting a babysitter to stay in the hotel with DS while he's sleeping. I'm extremely nervous about doing this and will only remotely consider it if I get some amazing recommendations!! LOL
Any other tips for exploring the island with DS would be great!! Thanks ladies!
Re: Travelling to NYC with a toddler & need advice...
Hi, I don't have very good advice as fas as dining with toddlers, sorry. The only place I can think of right now is Whole Foods at Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle... you probably don't want to have dinner there :-/ but if you happen to need anything, that's a great place.
You're going to love the Essex House, hubby and I were invited to a Thanksgiving dinner there not too long ago and really enjoyed it. From there you can walk to Fifth Avenue and go to FAO Schwarz!
I would ask the hotel about a babysitting service, maybe they have an in-house one??
Enjoy your trip!
Actually, I have a restaurant suggestion... La Bottega del Vino is right on 59th Street, within walking distance from your hotel, between 5th and Madison. It's italian and is very good. Hubby and I are from Rome and sometimes grab a cornetto there, when we get "homesick". Here's a clicky:
