Ok, Ladies... Shower Gift Advice Needed!

So I was invited to a bridal shower for a friend of mine.  Not a super close friend - but we were roommates for 2 years in college.  We've been away from there for 6 years now and while we have kept in touch, I don't see her often at all.

BUT, I'm making her wedding invitations (because I am trying to do that on the side) and I'm giving her a pretty good deal since we're friends.  I don't know if she knows how good of a deal it is necessarily, but that's ok.

I can't go to her shower because we're going to a different wedding that day (DH is a groomsman in that one, and it's out of town).  I just called and RSVP'd "no," but now I'm wondering if I should send a gift.

There's more trickiness... they're registered at Target and Macy's.  For anyone else, I would get a small Target gift card and send it in a card to the host's house to give to her the day of the shower.  But she works at Target!  I guess they still registered there for a reason, but would she want a gift card?  I'm not interested in picking something out and paying for the shipping.

So, do I ... Send nothing?  ... Send a Target gift card?  Send a Macy's gift card (which is not near as convenient to get)?  Send a real gift?  Thanks, ladies!

  • I vote for sending a card and gift card to a store (whatever you deem best!) to the host to give to the bride at the party.  Then they can pick out something to use it on and still get their employee discount.
  • I vote Target card for the same reason as above!

Ditto. If I were her, I would HOPE people would get me target giftcards so I could use my discount (although I think their discount is 10%, so not as big as other stores - one of my friends worked there for awhile and used to let me use her discount when we went together) and make the money they spent go further!

  • I'll ditto the others.

The fact that she works at Target didn't deter her from registering there, so I'm sure she would be happy to get a GC from there so she can use her discount to buy anything she doesn't get!
