Re: Thankful Thursday
Dear DCLow,
I'm thankful my eldest daughter is learning the joy of playing in her room for a while before she starts wanting to be let out. She's just loud enough on the monitor to wake me up, and just long enough for me to jump in the shower and (gasp! today!) put on a little makeup without feeling like she will be wailing by the time I get out. Oh, and thankful that the youngest is following in her big sister's footsteps and appears to be a late sleeper. Oh, and thankful to a contact of mine who was able to comp me a ticket (+VIP!) to NKOTBSB AND MATTHEW MORRISON in St. Louis Tuesday night. YUM.
A tankful of thankfuls,
kewliegirl
Thankful that my boss, the CEO, called me into his office on Monday morning and told me he has great big plans for me, but I'll need to wait up to 6 months to a year for implementation. I can wait, as long as I know he's got an eye on me (and he also gave me the oppty to tell him about 'the increasing tension on our floor bc of the other two teammates" (folks who also report to him who are causing ALL sorts of grief throughout the building). The quotes are bc I had to write down a phrase that I could use that was not accusatory and tattling. But it worked and he said he recognized there were issues and he appreciated me not getting into their fights and working with everyone else in the building to make sure things were getting done on time and right.
Basically -- thankful that I have a boss who likes and respects me and told me so. After the past few weeks, I wasn't sure. Now, having to work all weekend doesn't piss me off.
And thankful that my husband did what I asked and coordinated my birthday dinner on Sunday all by himself. (Actual day is Tuesday, in case you're counting days like me!)
"What is a week-end?"
I am thankful that my husband recognized the sound of something wrong with our a/c and that the repairman is upstairs replacing a broken part. We were days, if not hours away from having no a/c. So very thankful. I'm worried for people who are not so lucky. This is going to be a tough stretch for many folks.
i am thankful that i got to spend some quality time at my favorite RI beach last weekend.
i am thankful for my gram, we had such a good time with her last weekend.
i am thankful that HP7, part 2 exceeded my high expectations
however, i am not thankful to be back in DC as this heat/humidity makes me very stabby.
I am thankful that I have a job where I can sit inside in the air conditioning today.
Thankful that today is my Friday and even though I have to spend tomorrow out in the devil-heat, at least I can do it in a tank top and flip-flops not suit!
I'm thankful to be heading back to CT for work for a couple of days so that I'll have a chance to spend some time with family and old friends....
I'm thankful that the unsweetened passion tea lemonade that I ordered at lunch was actually unsweetened... it's the first time Starbucks has gotten it right in some time...
I'm thankful that I'll be seeing my gal Samantha at Hugo tonight to get rid of these dark roots - and I hope I'll be thankful that Mercedes will be there to give me the best shampoo and scalp massage ever....
I am thankful that I got to meet up with an old friend from high school last night to catch up while she's in town for a conference. Haven't seen her in about 7 years!
I am also thankful our AC was fixed earlier this week!
On days like today, I am thankful that my husband bought an insulated water bottle so i can have icy water whilst I work in a greenhouse for 5 hrs.
