NJ Nestie needs some Boston help.
Hi ladies. Hoping you can help me with something. My friend recently moved to Boston and her bday is in a few weeks. I'd like to get her something Boston-esque that will be fun for her and maybe get her out and about in the city. Any suggestions for me (other than Red Sox tickets)? Her new apartment is in the North End, if that helps at all. Thanks so much!
Re: NJ Nestie needs some Boston help.
How much are you looking to spend, and what does she like to do? My first thought was a membership to the Museum of Science or the New England Aquarium. Both are convenient to the North End. MoS is $80 and the aquarium is $85 so that might be a bit high depending on your budget.
Those are both within my budget. Thanks for the suggestions. She would probably like the Museum, not entirely sure about the Aquarium.
Please keep 'em coming if anyone else has any suggestions.
Are you thinking like a restaurant gift card or tickets to activities and attractions? We tend to have a million and one restaurant recs around here if that's what you'd like
I don't know if these things all offer gift cards or not, but some experiences worth looking into:
Duck Tour of the city. Tourists and locals alike tend to really enjoy this.
Tickets to the Museum of Science and Omni Theater show. The Omni here is a big domed theater and shows the most amazing documentaries, mostly science/nature/history-focused. And the Museum overall is a great place to explore.
Whale Watch tickets. Some tours leave from the Aquarium, which is close to the North End. For a shorter boat ride she could go an hour north to Gloucester and pick up a boat there instead. And the Gloucester/Rockport area is really cute to explore.
Museum of Fine Arts I think still has the Chihuly exhibit in house. Amazing blown glass pieces.
I love the Museum of Science (though I am a bio major)! Omni shows are great. The NE Aquarium is really small, I honestly wouldn't recommend that. However they do have an iMax.
Along the times for the Duck Tour there's the Old Town Trolly, which is meant more for adults (the Duck Tours really target kids but it is still fun for all ages!).
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the great suggestions.
