Amazon baby registry?

Anybody do it? Recommend or no?

Re: Amazon baby registry?

  • I did it. Depends. The registry itself is great and the fact that its universal so you can put products on it from all different stores and sites like etsy is even more useful. However, my family and guests for my baby shower were not very inclined to use it so it really just became my wish list and reminder of what I had left to buy after my shower! Most people shopped from the BRU registry. I was fine with that because I only used the Amazon registry for items that were not carried at BRU or were significantly cheaper on Amazon. I made the personal decision that I would rather get what I want/need even if I had to pay for it myself, rather than settle for something similar at BRU just so I could put it on the registry (does that make sense?). I think it depends on 1--how much BRU /BBB/Target etc products can meet your needs and desires vs how many things you want that are not available at one of those traditional baby registry stores and 2--how likely your family and friends are to use amazon.

  • I hemmed and hawed about it and ultimately decided not to because I was afraid people wanted to be able to go to a store and purchase a tangible thing.

However,  now I wish I had.  A LOT of the things I registered for at BRU is now out of stock, and I have found all of them on Amazon-- cheaper.
