XP: Port Canaveral - Where to stay?

Hi ladies!  I posted this on the travel board and I tried the Florida Coast board, but they sent me to you girls!  DH and I are going on a cruise out of Port Canaveral in January and would like to head down a couple of days early.  Any recs on where (or where not) to stay?  Thanks! Smile

Re: XP: Port Canaveral - Where to stay?

  • I live in Melbourne (about 20-30 min. south of the Port), but if you look on the beach (Cocoa Beach), there is a Holiday Inn, DoubleTree, Radisson and lots of smaller hotel/motels.  Ron Jon's also has a resort (its fairly new), but I have no other information about it other than it's there.  ($, whether it's a timeshare/hotel/etc).

RedHead is in the industry and works up there (if I remember correctly), I'm sure she will see this and respond.  (ugh, wait, she's in CA, isn't she??)  Don't know if she has computer access for the next 10 days or not, but you could try asking again in a couple of weeks if you don't hear from her.

  • Do you want to stay in the beach area- or did you want to spend time in Orlando? The port isn't far from anywhere in Orlando, really- so if you want to spend some time at the parks, you could stay in that area.

A lot of the Orlando hotels have shuttles to the port, too- but, if you planned on parking there (it's not cheap ;), obviously not a concern.

  • NYGirlie, I responded to you on the Florida's First Coast Board...

But.. I also live in Melbourne.  I think it'd be nice to stay in the Cocoa Beach area.. There's a Sheraton at the Cocoa Beach Surf Company that looks really nice..

  • There is an awesome (inexpensive) Comfort Inn on Cocoa Beach, that offers free shuttle service to the port... that's where all my family normally stays when they come down. And it's within walking distance of Ron Jon's surf shop.... when the time gets closer page us again and I can recommend some great restaurants over there!
  • Thanks a bunch, girls!  Big Smile
  • We spent our wedding night in the Cocoa Beach Doubletree hotel before leaving for our cruise the next day. We really enjoyed the hotel, as did our guests who stayed there as well. It's right on the ocean. Smile
