With most of the country in heat advisories, I'm curious as to what the temps/heat index are in your area.
It's actually ironic that in Central Florida, we've got some of the coolest temps in the country! It's 11am and we're at 87...heat index of 96. Not unusual for us this time of year...
Re: Summer Heat
Also 11 a.m. here and we're at 95 heat index 108 (according to weather.com).
I think one of the biggest problems here is that central air or air conditioning of any kind is not a given. Thankfully last year we got a movable standing air conditioner that I have going in the living room. Otherwise we would only have the one in our window in our bedroom. Actually at the school where I work they were scrambling earlier this week to move some of the summer programs into the few air conditioned rooms of the school.

What are you looking at?
My thermometer says 99.7 in the backyard. Weather.com says it feels like 108.
It's supposed to go to 103.

94 - with a heat index of 106.
UGH!
Personally I LOVE the heat.... This is a little extreme - b/c you pretty much can't be outside, but take it over a cold and rainy day in the summer any time!
Tomorrow when I have to treck to NYC and DH has to spend the day in a suit will most likely be an entirely different story!

I know many places up North don't have AC...how crazy that summer school was cancelled!
I can't imagine being pregnant in this kind of heat either. My sister is 5 months pregnant so I know she's probably struggling. I also keep thinking about my 90 year old grandmother in Philadelphia with a window AC unit in her home.
It is 93* right now-feels like 102*. NICE.
At least the AC is working now!
AC is pretty common here because we get SO humid in the summers. Most people at least have window units. We're lucky enough to have central air though. And a new one in a few weeks (Thanks, insurance!).
We have two window unit a/cs bedroom and living room so those have been our two hang out places as well. I am just glad I don't have to go out in it!
This. I'm jealous of you though because I am definitely not loving the heat!
You're not allowed to post in this thread. Sorry.
Oh, did I mention I was going to go for a barefoot walk on the beach at sunset?
