I posted this on FB too but I am thinking of getting my first pedicure ever before we go to Vegas in a couple weeks. Any places you recommend? Preferably near Altoona or Ankeny so I don't have to drive far. Any tips for a first timer? Do I need to set up an appointment or just go? Anything I need to do to prepare? About how long will it last? We are on vacation Aug 3-8, if I get one now will it last that long? Sorry for the dumb questions but I have no idea! I am a shame to women everywhere, lol.

Re: Pedicure?
I don't have any suggestions for salons in your area.
Typically they last 45 minutes, sometimes longer. They will massage your legs too, usually up to your knees so you'll want to plan you're wardrobe accordingly. (I usually make sure my legs are freshly shaved since they massage them.)
My pedicure timeline:
Week 1: looks great
Week 2: still looks pretty good
Week 3: looks okay but close examination shows nail growth near cuticle
Week 4: time to re-polish.
Pedicures are pretty much my favorite ever!! My favorite nail salon is in Ankeny, Q Nails, on Delaware and the greatest nail tech there is named "Snow". I have really fragile cuticles (I bleed pretty much every time if they cut them wrong) and Snow has yet to make me bleed.
Figure on it taking 45 minutes to an hour. Wear flip flops so the paint doesn't get ruined. Pedicures last a lot longer than manicures, in general. Other than growing out, they rarely chip, so you should be fine for your trip.
I like Top Nails in Altoona-about an hour for a pedi and good for at least 4 weeks. You don't need an appt.
One tip- don't go with clean shaven legs. I usually shave a day or two before. I don't know if it's just me but I've heard you should never get a pedi with a fresh shave? Unless I just made that up in my head. Ha!
Have fun!
