Re: Global Climate Change

  • I know I will probably get flamed for this, but I checked off no because I think this issue is very politically charged.  So much that I think it is hard for me to get a straight answer. There are very prominent scientists on both sides that swear it does and does not exist.

Many people who lived through the 60s and 70s recall a time when everyone was saying that a New Ice Age was coming (probably because temps had dropped?)  The Earth is a few billion years old.  Couldn't all this warming and cooling just be part of her natural cycle?

This exactly. I find it hard to trust. I'm a little sick of a lot of these types of arguments, where the subject seems to have disappeared a long time ago, and now it's just an argument over who's smarter, or better in some other way.

  • I have studied climate change a lot, from the POV of a chemist, it is real and makes sense. I really hate it when people want to argue a scientific fact. The only thing to argue about climate change is why its happening, not that it is or isn't. Many people want to argue that its part of the "natural cycles". This makes no sense because there have never been the levels of CO2 in the atmosphere as there are now. Even in past times of higher temperatures, there was not that added component of that high of a CO2 content. This proves that humans have contributed to the recent climate change.
