Babysitter Pay?
I'm finally getting out of the house! We're off to Spa Castle for our anniversary and found a babysitter. This way we can spend more time at the spa without having to drive her to another borough to a friend's busy house.
What is the rate here in NYC?

Anywhere from $10 to $15. Most of the college students that I have used charge about $10-$12. If they don't have to do the putting to bed routine it is on the cheaper end.
Some of the experienced nannies around Forest Hills will babysit in the evenings and on weekends, but they are usually about $15 an hour.
Wow, Queens is cheap! I know my sister (aka, My Nemesis, aka Satan, aka Leona Helmsley) paid her baby sitter $25 an hour. And the going rate for her area was minimum of $20 PLUS cab fare home.

I always either pay cab fare or drive the sitter home. A couple of local girls have refused.

Oh dont get me started on the pre-school. She used to pay something ridiculous like 6k a month per child for pre-school. Only did that for the oldest 2, and didnt send the youngest two. Whatever. Supposedly they were supposed to learn Japanese and French. Um, didnt happen. LMAO.

Oh, well, if Satan opts to live in the most expensive zip code of NYC as ranked by Forbes magazine, Satan gets what Satan deserves!! LOL!!

Spa Castle was great. I loved all the massaging pools and different saunas. It's been a year since I could do that stuff.
DH and I are still debating if we paid the babysitter enough. He thnks it wasn't a lot of work. DD slept most of the time. She gave 2 bottles and changed her twice.
what did you pay her per hour?
FWIW, we pay our babysitter the same amount whether G is awake or asleep. So, one time she basically made $15 an hour to sit on our couch and watch SYTYCD. :-) Nice gig if you can get it!
We gave her $12 an hour. I have to call her mom yet and thank her. Next time we will probably pay her more. DD was pretty happy with her and she was really responsible.
