thank you note wording-help!

We finally got our photo thank you cards and are ready to get going on them but....we are struggling with what to write. Thank you for your generous gift and sharing in our special day just sounds so blah...any wording suggestions to make them not sound so general???

Hmm, I was going to write what came to mind for each person.  Maybe say the same beginning part of thank you for the gift and helping to make our wedding so special, but then spice it up towards the end with maybe a favorite memory they were part of on the wedding day or something.

I made sure to write a little description about the gift.  I've heard (where I don't know) that you should include what you were given.

 

Dear Anne and John,

Thank you so much for the lovely tea kettle.  It looks great sitting on the oven.  DH and I can't wait to make our first cup of tea as a married couple.  

We really appreciate you thinking of us for such a special occasion.  We are lucky to have such wonderful friends.

Me and DH (I made him sign his name on each one too)

 

That was the standard template I used for mine.  I don't feel I'm a really good card writer but you get the idea.

I did the same as Kelly.  Cash was harder, but we wrote what we used it for (honeymoon excursion, finish our kitchen set, etc.).
