Re: louisville and frankfort restaurant recommendations?
I know that buffalo trace (and other bourbon distilleries) is/are in the area if you wanted to check them out.
I know that louisville has a lot of variety. They have hard rock and stuff like that and a lot of them are on the same street. They also have a "spaghetti factory" which isn't too bad. I have also heard the Galt house has a restaurant that is good. And while I have never eaten there, I heard that the Claudia Sanders restaurtant is supposed to be "classic kentucky" food.
DH and I love Rocky's in Jeffersonville, IN. It's just across the river from Louisville and there is an outside bar and dining area on the river. They serve Italian food and it's delicious! Wild Eggs is a great breakfast place. If you go there, be sure to get the Everything muffin - it's amazing!!
I would recommend touring at least one of the distilleries in the area if you have time. There are several in the Frankfort area.
DH and I use http://www.urbanspoon.com/c/51/Louisville-restaurants.html to find new restaurants and see menus/reviews/etc. on them. You can search based on area of town, cuisine, or price.
Hope you have a fun trip!
I second going to Rocky's on the river. Delicious.
Lynn's Paradise Cafe is a quirky restaurant in the Highlands. It has been on the Food Network before. The food was okay, but it is a fun experience.
