B&M Monday

Re: B&M Monday

  • BL - That really stinks!  I had a similar issue with a massage deal that I got on Groupon before the wedding.  They couldn't handle the amount of business from the groupon, and then called to cancel my appointments (that I had to walk in and schedule since they never answered the phones and the VM boxes were filled).  I called groupon and they were quick to refund my money.  Hopefully Living Social will do the same for you.

Random..but related to the BM discussion.

WWYD when the shoe is on the other foot?   Your now a BM in a wedding where the bride did very little for you when you got married ... and your now being asked by her BM's to help move the world?

I am a doormat when it comes to things like this. I give 110% even if I was only given 10%. I feel like two wrongs don't make a right, so I should treat her as I want to be treated even if she treated me like crap and won't appreciate my efforts. This is probably not a popular way of looking at it, but I feel like being the bigger person is always the better option when it comes to weddings/special occasions. You don't want to remembered as that girl.

I totally agree with this.  I'm this girl too.  I try my best to go above and beyond even if I know I won't receive the same in return.  I'm not perfect at it sometimes, but I do try.

I am really stressed right now.  Mel is getting her car Aug. 3 and is about to start driving, is looking for jobs, etc.  I'm not ready.  I just feel really overwhelmed with all that is about to happen.

Aww Stephie, this is exciting! I know it is scary for you for her to grow up so fast but it's cool for her I am sure! Every time I see you I just can't believe you are old enough to have a daughter Mel's age.

  • In general I really like the deals I have gotten through groupon, living social, ect.  I have probably redeemed 15-20 deals and this is the first issue I have had and I am sure living social will refund me, I just really wanted the service more than the money right now.
  • I almost forgot .. I DO have a B&M:  Our Neighbors

They are friendly, and I'm grateful for that.   However they have no respect at all for our time.  When we are outside watering they come over and talk FOREVER.    They also kidnap Mark for an hour at a time to "ask" him a question about some home improvement project.. ..for which he always gets roped into actually doing.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind chatting with them or helping them at all... but they NEVER ask if it is a good time.... and Mark has had a cold dinner more than once because of this.

Also, we caught them peeking in our windows when we were painting/doing flooring before we moved in.  I get it, newbie curiosity.... but we installed blinds in our kitchen recently (which faces their house) and they actually had the audacity to ask me why we don't ever open them.

ETA:  Also, the day after book club ..she asked if I had a party.  I profusely apologized for all of the cars parked in front of her house and explained that it was a book club.  All she said was, well, the other people who lived here had cocktails every Sunday and always invited me.  Um, no ma'am.

Unrelated - the dude who had my phone number before me must have NEVER paid his bills. I literally get 3-4 collections calls a day. No matter how many times I tell them this is no longer his phone, they still call. Any suggestions?

I was listening to Dave Ramsey the other day and someone called in with this same issue.  He said to politely tell them at least 2-3 times it is not you.  By the 3rd time, tell them if they call back again, they will be met with a very unpleasant phone call.  Buy a blow horn and blast it in their ear for all follwing phone calls.  Devil

He mentioned that they don't care that it is not you who they are after.  Sometimes if they pester people enough, they will pay someone else's debt.  Thus the need for the blow horn.

LOL. With the exception of the window part, they aren't creepy...and I won't say I've never peeked in windows when a house was being renovated.  Not when there were people inside, though.

The woman stays at home (with no car!) with their 3 year old child 24/7.  I think she may just be bored and have no concept that we worked all day, just finished a hard workout, trying to water the yard, and still have laundry and dinner to cook.

Michelle - That's funny. I might have to try something similar soon if this doesn't let up!

    Awesomeness!

  • Leslie, I almost lost my mouthful of water over that book and suggestion.
  • Leslie - tell them that you are going to report them for harassment for repeatedly calling you after you tell them they have the wrong number.  Ask to speak to their manager and tell him/her the same thing.

I haven't even started to book for book club.

    Tiffany - that's a little too weird.

  • LOL Leslie!

BL- Could they possibly give you credit (over a monetary refund) that you could use on another offer?

I am beyond happy that I did not have to deal with BM drama.  Reading about it was plenty for me.

  • Jaymi, that is a good idea, I will ask them when they respond to my request.

Why is so much of being a supervisor about putting out fires and teaching people things they should already know.  Emails were being exchanged about what my team wanted to dress me and my boss up as.  About half of the team was able to stay late and help with the car wash others were not.  Someone replies to everyone saying the ideas of person 1, 2, and 3 count for two votes since we actually helped with the car wash.  If you want your idea counted tell me why you werent washing cars, I dont think you helped us win.

WOW seriously, did you think before you typed.  I felt so bad for those members of our team who couldnt stay late for various reasons that were basically called out. :(

  • I have this coworker. Every day I try to make sure I heat up my lunch before her, because when she eats lunch she sits in a chair in front of the microwave. And she takes forever to eat. So I know that if she gets there before me, I'm going to have to wait another half hour before I get a chance to eat. And, she scrapes her teeth on her fork. I know it's petty, but it drives me up the wall.

  • BL - It amazes me how unprofessional some people are. How do you work in an office for years and still not know not to type bad things about others in your emails? A woman here typed something untoward about our boss to a vendor, the vendor then sent a reply back about the actual shipping issue in the email and copied our boss. Oops.

I wish there was a workout class where you could just go and dance for an hour. Not like Zumba but like a clubbing type class. I have become addicted to the Sirius channel BPM which is electronic/dance music and I have literally added 10 songs to my running playlist that just make me want to dance instead of run. :)

  • Leslie, I totally should do that!

Also, if you like electronic/dance music, you should come out dancing with me and Courts! Courts is a house DJ, not sure if you knew that. Our current favorite local DJ is Indo. We're into house, but we're open to other styles, so if you need some recs for places to go dancing, let me know!

Wow that will teach someone a lesson.  I laugh people here to screenshot something to report an issue and at the bottom of the screen is fb. lol

Have you ever heard of Dance Trance, they dont have it here in Dallas yet but I hear it is coming and it might be closer to what you are looking for.

Awesome. I will check this out after work. That's right ladies, 1:15p and I am still at work. I am covering for someone's vacation Mon-Wed this week, so you'd better help me pass the 4 extra hours each day!

  • I thought that I would be able to work for Sunstone when we moved, but I have to do a few workshops with them and can't start teaching until January (at the earliest). DH's best friend said he could get DH a job at his company so that is good, but now I need to find something.

    I hate moving.
  • I'm having an extremely hard time getting into The Book Thief and I nearly fall asleep when I read it during lunch (<-- this is nothing new).

  • I just bought Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred DVD and overnighted it from Amazon (thank you dear sweet Prime membership) to start tomorrow.

I need something new with my workouts and hope this will help. It has 1,859 five star reviews, it has to be decent.
