QOTD

What's your favorite place/restaurant in the city you live in?  Why do you love it so much?

Re: QOTD

  • Mine would have to be Tavern on the Main in Clawson.  They have a great outdoor patio, beer is cheap, and their patty melts are to die for!  I have so many great memories of getting together with friends and sitting on the patio last summer.  We used to do a "Clawon Bar Crawl" that we made up and we went to Tavern, Renshaw's, Moose Winoski's, and Black Lotus since you could walk to all of them.
  • Big E's Dawg House in Hazel Park on 9 Mile. The BEST hot dogs around, I swear it! You can get potato wedges with the best seasoning on earth and funnel cake batter dipped, deep fried Oreo cookies. Um, heaven.

O.M.G.  I need to go to this place!

  • I love Grizzly Peak in Ann Arbor!  It always seems to be my family and friends go to restaurant.  I love pretty much everything on their menu....

  • There is a new-ish Mexican restaurant called Las Palapas that we really like.  It serves the authentic mexican tacos that DH loves, and I have really liked everything I've had there too!  Their refried beans are so amazing.

ETA:  I don't know how I forgot, but one that I perhaps like even better is called Marvaso's.  It's an italian place, and they have this chicken/asparagus/pasta dish that is to die for!  They have a lot of creamy bad-for-you stuff that DH doesn't care for, but I love it!

  • The actual city I live in doesn't have a ton of restaurants, but I do like Poncho and Cisco's Mexican Restaurant.  It's just this tiny little place, but the food is good and so are the margaritas!
  • Howell doesn't have much thats good.  We have a really good Mexican place - Los Tres Amigos. And we have a good place for breadsticks/lasagan - Tomato Brothers. But for anything special, we go to at least Brighton.  In Brighton it's a tie between Stillwater Grill and Brighton Grill. Brighton Grill has the best scallops I have ever tasted.

The "kids" that started that restaurant used to be students at the high school I teach at.  In fact, I teach some of their cousins now.  Their food is really good and their strawberry margaritas are insanely delicious.  They do not go light on the booze!

  • I love Las Palapas! It's just down the street from my house! We've been there a handful of times since they opened! Their blue margarita is yummy. My favorite dish is this seafood dish in a pineapple (can't remember what its called). Their beans are delish!!!!
  • I don't post too much, I get too busy at work but I had to chime in and say that my DH and I finally tried Las Palapas on Saturday and I thought it was delicious.  I can't believe we hadn't tried it before then because it's practically right across the street from where we live.  We visit Biggby & Red Olive all the time... Great food.
