Things to do in downtown Chicago?

DH and I are thinking of taking the train from Milwaukee to Chicago in October for an overnight stay for our anniversary. Any entertainment and restaurant ideas?

Re: Things to do in downtown Chicago?

  • There are soooooo many options! :) October is a great time here in the city.

A couple of the sites that we pushed our out-of-town wedding guests to for info are:

    http://chicago.metromix.com/

  • Some of our favorite things are:

Getting drinks at the Signature Lounge on the 96th floor of the John Hancock. It gets busy, so prepare to have a wait. They also serve dinner on the 95th floor--make reservations ahead!

Howl at the Moon is a really fun dueling piano bar that has a lively atmosphere and reasonable drinks (for Chicago).

The Rosebud Cafe has delicious Italian food. If you want a super nice, pricier meal with great steak, check out the Chicago Chophouse.

If you've never been to Navy Pier, it's fun. I'm not sure how much outdoor stuff is open in Oct. We've rented bicycles there before, which was fun, as well as taken boat rides on the Lake.

  • I would do Navy Pier if the weather is descent. I would try Lou Malnatis or Haray Caray's restaurants. I would also check out all the museums on the southern side of town.  Be sure to hit Michigan Avenue, also.  Great shop/restaurants/atmosphere.

     Have Fun!
