My interview went well...

...but if I am offered the job (and I sort of expect to be because he told me I was his best applicant) but, they are offering $10k less than the lowest I provided on my range which would be about a $20k pay cut from what I make now.

Apparently it took awhile for them to call me (they had my resume for a month) because the first person they hired worked there for a few weeks and became very ill and didn't return for 3 weeks and they don't expect her back.

It was one of my best interviews, so I'm happy with that.

Re: My interview went well...

  • well, in reality, what's the market in your area looking like? When I first moved here, before the economy collapsed, I turned down a transfer because it would've meant a 10k cut. Now? I'd LOVE to that that kind of cut (versus the severly underpaid position I hold now)! So balance out location, company set-up, how happy you'd be, benefits, etc.
  • I can't afford a pay cut that severe. Also, the hours were 9-6 with about a 45 minute commute. That means I would have to permanently quit school and also quit my second job.

I'm looking for legal - open to anything, secretary, paralegal, research or any type of secretary job in any field. I will soon be taking a nearly 45% paycut at my current job. I honestly cannot afford to work here anymore.
