Has anyone used Angie's List?
What was your experience and did you find and like the vendors that you were looking for? Was it worth the membership fee?

We have relied on it a lot in finding people to work on the house we just bought. Search around for promo codes, and there may also be an additional discount if you pay with paypal. There was for us a few months ago.
When you sign up you also get access to groupon-like deals for various services. We used that for a good deal on a full electrical inspection when we were negotiating for repairs.
If you foresee needing to research a lot of different types of companies then I do think it's a good deal. I also rely on word of mouth, but it's a big help when you can't find references for everyone.
