Help! My H's bday is coming up in August and I'm totally stumped on what to get him. We don't have a lot of money so I don't know what to do. I'm thinking maybe a bbq party with our friends but I don't know what else to do.... ugh! I'm usually really good at this and have something planned months ahead of time but I'm so stuck from lack of cash. Does anyone know any fun and inexpensive things we can do in the area? I'm not too familiar with the area but I'm willing to travel a couple hours away to do something with him. Thank you to any one with any ideas!!

Newport RI is always FUN! It is about an hour and a half away from CT, and it's a cute town...There are mansions you can tour, and lots of pubs, and shopping! It's right on the water, there is a beach! It is awesome! Good luck!

I second Newport. It's an easy day trip, with a lot to do and really nice restaurants! Other suggestions would be NYC or Cape Cod. Or maybe take a ferry over to Long Island and go shopping for the day and then have dinner at a nice restaurant. The boat ride over is fun. Or go out on a sailboat tour of the sound.

Newport is not inexpensive...if you want somewhere to go for a few hours...there is a place in Wallingford that has go-karts. My Fiance is obsessed...they go about 40 mph...there's a bowling place near by...I would just suggest anything sports would work too.
