dog trainer recs?

We've done a lot of training, but my 5-yr-old golden retriever is a stubborn girl. Off and on, she has periods where will stop and refuse to walk, unless I wait her out for half an hour or so.  Nothing is wrong with her that we or the vet can tell.  Yesterday, I had something i needed to get home for, so I had to pull her to get her moving, and it threw my back out.  Given my back injury history, this is not tenable.

Can anyone recommend a good and reasonable dog trainer to help curb this behavior?  Thanks!

Re: dog trainer recs?

  • They're expensive, but I highly recommend Old Towne School for Dogs.  Their trainers are awesome and will work with your dog til the issue resolves, and teach you how to better resolve the issues yourself.

We took Grace (4yo American Bulldog) to them when we moved because the change had shocked her so much she was dropping her obedience work.  They had her back to normal in just a couple of hours, and taught us some things that help when we're in a new environment or around strange people or dogs.
