Tree trimming cost?

We have one smallish branch that we are thinking about cutting down.  I've heard how expensive tree trimming is and was just wondering if anyone had any experience and a rough price?

Thanks!

Re: Tree trimming cost?

  • We had a relatively small  branch just taken down (maybe 6in diamter) and it was $250+tax.  Our main problem was finding a tree trimmer that thought it was worth their time.  They are so busy that they seem to only want to take $$$$ jobs.
  • Yeah, that's what I was thinking too.  My brother teaches at a college for landscaping and has experience trimming trees so I'm thinking about trying to get him to help out...  It's just so expensive for something we could maybe do ourselves.

    Thanks for the reply!

  • Depending on how high the branch is and how large it is, you could rent a pole tree trimmer. My dad has one that's 8 or 10 feet long and it works pretty well.  Or seems to - I've only watched him and DH use it.

You might also keep an eye out to see if someone in the neighborhood has tree trimmers out.  A company was out last year cutting our neighbor's tree down so I ran over to see if they could give me an estimate on one of our branches.  They did it that day for $30.
