Random Gifts/Hand-me-downs

Have you received random gifts/hand me downs? I love when someone passing something along that they are no longer going to use. Today, my supervisor gave me some of her maternity tops. I am not pg, I'm not trying to be pg, and I'm not in the market for pg-friendly clothing. I totally appreciate the gesture, but at the same time, WTF?! Why are you rushing me??

my grandma has been giving me junk left and right. i think she's worried that they're going to die my dad will be left to go through all their stuff or something. i dont know...she's been doing it for a few years now. she came for B's bday dinner and brought random cocktail napkins (and not the kind i would ever put out...they're very grandma-y).  another time she gave me some costume jewelry that i'm sure i'll never wear. but, sometimes i get good stuff too...they are selling their condo here and i have to go through all of the furniture and i'm sure that i can find something we need over there. and they're very generous to us and to B

I hear you on grandma's giving random stuff bucks!  My grandma has a shopping problem except it is thrift store/garage sale shopping problem.  It doesn't help that she volunteers in the hospital thrift shop so she brings home so much junk.  She is always buy random stuff for people.  Occasionally it will be something nice, but most of the time it is old worn out clothes that don't fit.  Now that we have a baby coming she is going to be buying everything baby in sight!  She doesn't even pay attention to what has stains or is worn out either.

I had a coworker give me a bunch of her old clothes. She had about 5 big garbage bags full of things she wanted to get rid of. We're about the same size, so she let me go through them first. Everything was in pretty good shape.

I took enough that I didn't have to go shopping for summer tops this year. Everything is probably out of style, but I'm never in style anyway.

I love getting hand me downs.  Well... I love them if its something that I can use.

The maternity tops are a little funny.  Did she give you any reason for her giving them to you?

So, you're keeping the pg clothes? That would be kind of odd, but kind of cool in a way if they were your size!

I don't think I've gotten many hand me downs, but my ex-bf's mom used to give me the strangest gifts. She was a hoarders/garage saler...anything for a deal. I think the strangest is probably an ornament that was a girl made of of clay. She was holding a book of baby names and one leg was broken off (we were not even close to getting married, let alone have a baby).

She also gave us things like phone chargers that didn't fit our phones, and random stuff like batteries and kleenex. She'd be all..."Oh, I was thinking about you and got you this box of garbage bags". Um...thanks.

Yes that's random, Kare!

There was no wink!! I'd think she would ask and say, hey I have some shirts that are maternity, do you want them or should i just donate them? But, nothing like that.
