Halloween?

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that really enjoys Halloween as an adult.  Does anyone else host a Halloween party or do any major Halloween decorating?  I'm already starting to decide on my theme for this year's party (I'm thinking a Ripley's Believe it or Not party).  What kind of decorations do you keep every year, and what do you try to add?  How much do you typically spend yearly?

Re: Halloween?

  • I also love Holloween, but I was always too busy and don't have much time for this holiday. But this year I think I will make a prepare in advance.
  • Halloween is my favorite holiday!  We usually go all out with decorations and attend a friend's party.  This year I think we're going to be a little preoccupied.

Side eyeing your ticker... I SUPPOSE! :)

But really, any PIPs?  What do you normally do for Halloween?  Do you have any 'every year' decorations?

Here's my blog post of some of our Halloween things:

  • Halloween is my favorite holiday! My BF isn't as into as I am so unfortunately I don't really go all out. We rent an apt so we don't have the space for parties but we try to dress up and go out every year. This year I'm working on Mario and Princess peach from Mario Bros. We'll see how that goes over lol

Can't PIP from my phone but we carve jack-o-lanterns and use them to line our patio and doorway. Our ever year decorations include window designs, a giant "abandon hope all who enter here" sign we hang over the door and cobwebs everywhere. Inside it's glitter skulls on most surfaces and I like to pick up some new accessories yearly to keep it "current." Growing up we used to build a cemetery in the front yard with gravestones and body parts.

  • I love fall, so halloween is great! I just don't like that a lot of the only options for adult costumes are slutty.

  • I don't, but many of my adult friends enjoy it a lot and go all out.
  • we throw a big party for our friends every year. tons of decor and food. of course drinking and some games. We also do a costume contest with some prizes.

Question to pass on to those who have a party: When are you ladies going to send your invite out? we will just do an evite if it makes a difference.

  • I am with you. I LOVE All holidays, and Halloween is up there among my top three faves!! I already know what I am going to dress as (Star Trek original series dress) and have started thinking about food for the Halloween party. I spent a lot of money last year, probably around $150 on decorations, but this year, I'll be able to get by with spending less as I can reuse a bunch of stuff. I also spent $20 on music/sound effects, and I will have to repeat that cost this year. I don't like having all the same music twice in a row. I also don't like the cheap sound effects of thunderstorms and ghosts. Last year was the best because at one point one of my girlfriends asked me to come with her into the bathroom because she was too scared to go alone! (I only feel a little bad that she was scared, mostly proud that I decorated scary enough to seem like Texas Chain Saw Masc.) As far as what I have: a skull on a stick that I put on top of a stuffed pair of DH jeans and work shirts cilicone mirror cling dripping blood. a blood stained shower curtin a black cat thingy banners to hang in doorways that look like Freddy Kruger flickering candleabra lights gosh I can't even think what all else i have right now!! All I can say is bring on the candy corn!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • By the way, I should mention that I spent $350 on my costume 4 years ago. I did wear it for four Halloweens, but some may see that as a bit excessive!!
  • ohh i LOVE halloween! we always have a halloween party at one of your friends homes.  i love having an excuse to dress up! hahaha!
  • we do major decorating every year, both inside and out. inside we have a huge halloween village, plus halloween tree. and tons of candles and knick knacks. outside, halloween icicle lights on the house, giant spiders on the walls, a 20something-headstone cemetery, life-size coffin, random scarecrows dressed in costumes throughout the yard... plus plenty i'm sure i'm forgetting right now. our neighborhood kids love us. :)
  • Growing up we were friends with a family that really went all out on Halloween. Huge parties with prizes, random skits that would pop up as the party was going on, a haunted trail, etc. They eventually got tired and felt like it was too much work, but their kids are trying to keep it going at their own houses. It was tons of fun and I think everyone enjoyed it regardless of their age.
