RAGBRAI

Anyone participating in any RAGBRAI festivities today? Anyone ever done the ride? My DH is riding today and I am excited to meet up with him later and check out all the riders. It's so fun!

Re: RAGBRAI

  • I was planning on riding today, but I was sick earlier this week and now I'm totally behind at work so I can't. I'm so sad, I was totally looking forward to it.

I've done parts of it several times. I've only done the whole week once.

Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.
  • I am not riding, but we live in Altoona, so we may take our son to the family entertainment tonight if it doesn't get too hot.  I've never participated in anything RAGBRAI, so I'm kind of excited to see it all.

  • I have done 3 and 4 days several years.  Two years ago I rode one day.  80 miles in one day and my total training was maybe 100 miles!

  • I did it last year.  It's a lot of fun!  We will definitely do it again, but I'm glad I am not doing it this year!

  • I've only ridden for part of one day -- but I've also never had a good bike.  Having ridden a terrible mountain bike that day (and then trying out a nice hybrid/road bike), I can say that makes a huge difference!  :)

I have, however, driven a support vehicle for a team a couple of different years - for 4 days or so.  It was fun.  I've also hosted people when it came through my hometown and in Ames, and we've gone out and enjoyed the festivities in the evening.  There's usually lots to see & plenty to do (and eat/drink!).

Hope your husband is having a great day & you guys have fun tonight!

  • I also have a terrible bike which is why I don't do very much riding these days. My DH has a super sweet trek he bought a few years ago so maybe when the kids are older or I am retired I will get back into it. :o) I rode a few days for two years in a row and now I just get to watch the kids and cheer my DH on!

I love seeing all the people out and about on their bikes and enjoying Iowa!
