Relocating vegetable plants?

I have 2 climbing spinach plants that are about 12" high right now, but are being crowded by out of control squash plants.  I'm thinking about relocating the spinach to any empty spot where I had lettuce planted.  Any tips to do this successfully?

Re: Relocating vegetable plants?

  • I've never transplanted veggies.  I'd imagine that if you dug a pretty generous root ball around the plant, and had the lettuce area prepped (loose soil), it would be okay.  If you want to be safe, you could move one, and if it's doing well in a week, have the other follow.  Good luck.  I've never heard of climbing spinach.  Off to google that...

  • I'm new (this year) to gardening, so I'm still learning.  But I pruned my zucchini plant because it was taking over and it's still producing fine.  Is that an option?
