Anyone know Downingtown?

Can I ask you if there are any neighborhoods we should drive through? 

Also, a question about the schools - it seems like Downingtown East is doing a little bit better in the rankings than West but I don't necessarily want to only look in the East because of numbers on a page.  Is there any thing in particular I should know about West to kind of balance them out (maybe West has better sports or extra-curriculars)?  Or do people really perceive East as the better school?

Any insight you can share would be incredibly helpful.

I am not sure about the difference between East and West, so I am no help there.

I know West Bradford is a nice township - my BIL and SIL live there.  I believe their kids will be in East eventually.

When they built East they did a pretty large scale redistricing (if thats a word) so that the kids that lived "in town" didn't all go to West. Sports and extra cir activities are about the same for each school. I live two mins from West and have a Downingtown address, but since we're in Caln Township, we're in Coatesville SD.

Interesting.  Thanks for the insight.  We're going to be driving around this weekend so its good to know there isn't overwhelming reason to stay in East over West.

As a graduate from Downingtown high (they split right after I graduated), I used to live right in the borough of Downingtown. It's my understanding that all the kids that live in the actual town of Downingtown, Glenmoore, and up by Marshallton Throndale Rd go to Downingtown West whereas the kids living on Rt 113 and Lionville/Exton go to Downingtown East. As Tianacheron said I believe they have equal amount of activities and sports. 

The way that the districting bondaries happened, Downingtown West gets a higher percentage of the lower income familes and Downingtown East has more of the wealther familes. But I heard the education is still the same.
