What would you say is the best place to see animals? I have been to the Sacramento zoo (kind of pathetic), and the SanDiego Zoo which I thought was pretty amazing. I haven't been to Folsom Zoo or Wild animal park.....?

Also do you think the idea of zoo's are kind of wrong? I noticed when I went to Sac Zoo the other week most of the animals looked sad.

I remember going to the Sacramento zoo about 7 years ago and thinking the same thing.  But then again, I think the same thing of the SF zoo as well.  I think the Oakland Zoo is my favorite zoo in the area.

I also enjoy the Wild Animal Park as well as Safari West

I grew up in NC where they have a huge zoo. It is almost 1400 acres and the largest walk through zoo in the world. The habitats are huge for the animals and more natural to their "normal" environments. I loved it so everything else just doesn't compare to it. We took E to the Sac zoo a few months ago and while it is nice and bigger than I expected, it is still pretty small. Personally I think zoos should be big enough to give the animals plenty of space.

I grew up in Fresno and the Chaffee Zoo there has gone through times where it's really nice and times where it's kind of sad. I think it's depended on how much funding they've gotten. One year my high school had prom there. We lived up in Berkeley for awhile and I loved the Oakland Zoo up in the Oakland hills. I haven't been to the zoo in a long time but would like to go.
