Another question regarding almost 4-year olds

What is your bathtime routine? With Cohen, it's the same as when he was really small. I sit next to the tub and wash him and let him play in the water for a little while. I feel like I should be encouraging more independence here. How is bathtime handled at your house?

Thanks!

Happy mom to two sweet, silly boys: Cohen age 4, AJ age 2.

Re: Another question regarding almost 4-year olds

  • Ella pretty much washes herself. We help with her back and make sure she gets all the soap out of her hair. We got her a special body poof she likes to use!
  • I do pretty much the same as you, Deb.  She gets in, I wash her body and allow her to wash herself with her poofy thing if she wants, then I wash and condition her hair.  There's no way she can do her hair on her own.  I sit there while she plays and she lets me know when she's ready to get out.

  • I still wash Ava's hair but that is because it hits her waistline when wet! (not for long though).. I let her "wash" herself but she does a terrible job and speeds right through it. I figure bathtime independence will come closer to 5-6 yrs old and I don't really mind because I usually bathe the girls together so I am in there washing Aubrey anyway. On the nights where I don't bathe them together for whatever reason, I sometimes let Ava shower and she thinks its the best thing ever but I still have to do all the cleaning for her..

  • We're probably a little odd in that Katen and Ana take a shower together in our shower. They wash each other. IF they've had bug spray on or got particularly dirty then I will give them some help but generally they're splashing it up on their own. I do also help Katen comb out her hair after the conditioner goes in, for obvious reasons.  :)
