Coming to Chicago in a week! Tips?
DH and I are off to Chicago one week from tomorrow in our first trip away from DS! I'm excited to have a little getaway. Friday is dedicated to whatever. Saturday we're headed to a cubs game and to get the full wrigley experience. Saturday night I plan to go to the john hancock building and watch the navy pier fireworks. But who knows! Sunday we don't fly out until 5 I think so we have a good part of the day too.
Any fun tips on what we must do, see, taste? TIA!
Re: Coming to Chicago in a week! Tips?
That's the most ignorant thing I've seen on TN in a long time.
74 books read in 2011
Definatly the Art Institute. Currently on exibit they have:
A shawl made of golden spider silk. (Amazing. I've looked at it three times already)
Japanese Kimonos (Beautiful!)
The two exhibitions about TASS and other war time posters is... words don't describe it well, but it's something you can't miss out on.
The Museum Shop is also very nice and you should defiantly stop by, a lot of very unique items.
Yay Cubs! Just had to throw that in there. Win or lose, I think you'll have a good time at the game. My advice for that: if you think AT ALL that you might wanna duck out before the absolute end of the game (and possibly have to wait for people around you to leave) it's worth it to fork over a little extra cash and park in an "early out" spot. Just ask the people about it wherever you end up parking. They cram them in like sardines and you will get blocked in otherwise. Of course, this is null and void if you're taking public transit
I would do the John Hancock Building--either the observatory and/or having drinks at the Signature Lounge on the 96th/dinner on the 95th. The views are wonderful.
If you like museums, the Museum of Science and Industry is actually very entertaining, even for adults. I second (or third) the Art Institute. Navy Pier is fun for walking around/renting bikes/riding the ferris wheel, etc.
