Re: CD Question - Cloth Wipes

  • I'm sure they'll chime in...

But if I remember right, Christina was not, she was using disposable wipes.  Shannon does use cloth wipes, she was buying the packs of wash clothes at Target you can buy for like 5 for $5.

From experience, I can see where cloth wipes may actually be much more beneficial for BM's.  Seriously we go through so many wipes because they can't "grip" the poop off her bum, where as something with texture like a wash cloth probably would much better!

  • i do. i have a mix of actual cloth wipes but the majority of them are baby washcloths. for me it was more work to use disposable wipes. then i had to find somewhere to throw them away instead of just putting them in the wetbag/pail with the diapers (plus, the trash always reeked of baby poop). seemed silly to me. i've never "washed out" the wipes and have never had an issue with them not coming clean in the wash.

i use disposables when we're out but that's it (since i wipe his hands, surfaces, etc with them too). since switching to cloth wipes i also realized how many paper towels we were going through everyday cleaning and whatnot. now i use microfiber towels or rags for my cleaning and normal stuff around the house and just throw them in the washing machine for the next load of laundry i do. we have saved a bunch of money that way too.

  • LOL Jenn, that was quite the recall! We do not use cloth wipes. I toyed with the idea of using cloth wipes awhile back, but I'm reluctant to change. We change Lulu so frequently and we usually use 2-5 wipes per change, so we would need A LOT of CWs...and they're like $1/each... Which I know would still ultimately save us money. But I also don't like the idea of having to tumble dry them (we line dry our dipes). They'd be stiff and gross otherwise. So for now we're still using Target generic wipes. Whatever you do, do NOT use Wal-Mart generics. They suck!!!

Ditto!  We like the Kirkland brand from Costco.

  • walmart wipes are horrible. i love costco wipes but we go through a pack so infrequently (maybe one every 3 months) that i dont ever feel like spending $18 on a box of wipes lol. we use target too

  • no haha.

personally it was one more thing for me to spray poop off of

  • oh and we use the lansinoh brand and target sensitive

  • We do.

Ours are a variety of actual wipes and baby washcloths.  We only use ONE wipe per diaper change, compared to the 3ish disposable wipes per change we were using last week while Ariadne was in the hospital.  So I definitely think cloth wipes decreases the amount of wipes you use.  We only have about 36 wipes I think.

  • thx so much for your input ladies!!
