Crinkly Material

I'm making taggy blankets for a couple of friends' babies and I want to add a layer of crinkle material inbetween the flannel. I've seen the crinkle stuff in dog toys and other baby toys, but I have no idea what it is. Anyone have a clue? Can I get this at the usual JoAnns or Hobby Lobby?

Re: Crinkly Material

  • I used basket bags or cellophane wrapping paper.

  • Potato chip bags also work
  • I usually use a left over chip bag or something like that, washed well.

Word of caution... do not use the bags from the Life savers Mints.  Unless you want your taggies to smell like mint FOREVER!

  • Baby wipe bags are also good (and only smell like baby - not mint - haha!). My favorite thing to use though, is a couple of layers of plastic grocery bag.  It can be a challenge to sew, but it gives a much softer feel and crinkle sound.

I've used chip bags (cleaned of course) before but my favorite thing to use is a baby wipe bag. It's thicker and makes a really nice "crinkle" sound. I realize how weird that sentence is, but honestly I just like how the baby wipe packages sound in those tag blankets! Good luck!
