John's cousin's shower is next weekend. I'm going to get her some of her towels because it was on her "most needed" list that her sister told me about. The towels that she registered for received terrible reviews. As long as they are the same color, would it be alright for me to buy a higher quality towel? Secondly, is it alright for me to wear a white dress and bright green shoes to the party? I can add a green brooch too. Thoughts?

No. Either get her the towels she registered for or get her something else from the registry. Or get her a gift card if you're torn.

I agree with Shoe.  Get her the towels she wanted or a gift card to the store.  And, post a pic of the dress!  Sounds very summery!

OK I'll get her something else, but I can't stomach how ugly these towels are in person. I want to call her so badly and let her know, but we're not that close. I'll just get all the wine glasses (they're cheap) and hopefully I can partake of the alcohol that will fill them.

The dress was my original wedding dress. I just had it taken in, so much fun.

honestly, I'm all for better towels.  The towels we registered for were craaaap and every single time I fold them, I make up some new inventive curse words.  And they were from BB&B.  And we got a TON of them.  But DH's grandpa bought us some from JcPenney and they don't match anything we have but I looooove them.  They're fabulous.  So I'm in the yeah, get her the same color but better quality category.

Basically the thread overall. You think her opinion sucks, she'll probably think your opinion sucks. She chose those towels and will have to live with it if she gets them. Meh... all brides grow up and learn at some point.

I think I'd be happy too if someone decided to upgrade and get me some really nice towels or sheets. If you do it, maybe just include a gift receipt just in case she really wanted the crappy ones for some reason.

The dress sounds great. I love little white dresses in the summer, especially with some fun color accessories.
