evergreen pear vs. purple leaf plum
through the city, we are going to have two trees planted in the strip
between the sidewalk and the street in front of our house. we have a
list of trees to choose from, and I think I've narrowed it down the the
purple leaf plum tree and the evergreen pear tree. I want something that
blooms with flowers at some point in the year, but I'm also interested
in something that keeps it's leaves all year so that it provides some
privacy from the street. anyone have experience with either of these
trees? I know the purple leaf plum is deciduous, but if it is overall a
better tree, I'll choose that one.
thanks for any input!
Re: evergreen pear vs. purple leaf plum
I have lots of experience with both. I wouldn't be really excited about either one.
In my professional opinion, this is a lesser-of-two-very-low-value trees scenario, so I'd pick the plum, because it will be less damaging to the environment, and more colorful.
