Discussion of the Day -Do you know any couples that originally met at a bar or club and are still to
Now that we know our husbands love their TVs and alcohol (smile), today's Happy Hour Box of Questions topic is.....(dammit, I need an emoticon for a drum roll!):
Do you know any couples that originally met at a bar or club and are still together?
HOW APPROPRIATE! because today is my 6th wedding anniversary and yes, I met John in a bar. Brought him home, he stayed, we got married.
I will be in a meeting most of the day and so will look forward to reading ya'll's responses later! Have a great Friday, everyone!

Happy 6th wedding anniversary P&J!
We did not meet in a bar or club, although we had our first date in 3 bars (RFD, District Chophouse and Gordon Biersch). We did meet online, however.
Happy anniversary, Pam!
Like mssaint, DH and I had our first date at a bar (Rio Grande) but met online, so I don't know if that counts. BIL and SIL met at a bar though - BIL was his friend's wingman and was chatting with the friend (SIL) of the girl his friend was interested in. They've been married ten years now (I don't think anything ever happened between their respective friends, however).

Happy anniversary!! Do you guys have any fun plans to celebrate?
One of my best friends met her husband in a bar on Valentine's Day no less back in 2003. They (finally!) got married last year
.
DH and I met in grad school, but I did confess my feelings for him in a bar if that counts!
Happy Anniversary Pam!
DH and I met at a fraternity party...that's kind of comparable to a dive bar right? ;-)
we didn't meet at a bar but some of our defining moments early in the relationship happened in a bar.
and i really hope the nestie who has the paper towel with her phone number on it that she gave her husband after their inital "sleepover" chimes in....that is one of my favorite nest stories ever
Same here! And our 6th anniversary is next weekend!
Happy anniversary, Pam!
I don't think I know many. Didn't bh meet her hubz in a bar? Mister Days? (The stalker files run deep on this board :P)
One of my closest friends met her husband at a divey Irish bar (the Burren in Davis Square for any Bostonians on the board), and they just celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary.
like jen, we met online but part a good chunk of our first date was at a bar and involved a lot of hoegaarden
i think the couple i knew that met at a bar are divorced now
DH and I met in a bar and we are still together. Our story will make you gag, but i'll tell it anyways.
I was dancing on the bar (typical) and slipped and tripped over the lip of the bar, just as I was about to smash my face on the floor, DH was there and grabbed my arm. I still hit the floor pretty hard, but I didn't break or bruise anything!
People say I was his fallen angel. lol (Our group always listen to "Fallen Angel" by Poison.)
We will be married 6 years in December.
Oh man, I miss those days. We were some crazy kids. I don't know how we made it out of that summer alive...
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
i think i may have been there . . . or walked by while getting sauced elsewhere in davis square
Wines is right. We did. And I was drrruuuuuunk! It was around 4AM, at the after the bar bar. I had finished up a night of tequila shots with the ex-BF, who told me I "was a really cool, fun girl - but, too wild and not marriage material."
DH was at the bar dancing. Alone. (ummm... creep?)
He was across the room, pointed his finger at me and did the "come hither" motion. (again... creep?)
We danced. He gave me his card. The card indicated that he had a degree (check!) and a job (check!) - neither of which the ex-BF had. So I e-mailed him on Monday or Tuesday. Glad I did!
He turned out not to be a creep at all. He shared a studio apt with his brother at the time, and his bro wanted the place to himself for awhile (I'm sure there was a girl involved, but I never got that part of the story), so DH decided to go dancing at the place down the street to kill some time.
Funny thing is, his grad school was on my short list. I *almost* applied there. If I would have we would have probably met a couple years sooner, since we have the same degree.
Happy anniversary!
Make that 3 frat party marriages. We met my third week of college during a beach party.
Stand up for something you believe in.
Um, that sounds like me and DH. We actually met at a restaurant where a big group of folks were getting together for an impromptu happy hour dinner, but it wasn't technically at a bar. But, early on, our relationship "blossomed" at pool halls and dive bars. We'll have been married 5 years this October!
Happy Anniversary!
I met DH in a bar. We met at the Four Courts in Arlington 10 years ago!
didn't you then proceed to go out to the dumpsters behind the bar and make out? LOL
DH and I met online and I am not a drinker. But my co-w met his wife in a bar, they were a 1-night stand that got married. They have a lot of issues that the rest of think go back to the fact that they got married for lust.
Given all the nights I spent at TomTom in my early/mid-20's, I too find that hysterical!
