Any insight? I just need to order a birthday cake for this weekend-my dad is having a little cookout and pool party for Sean. I was planning on ordering one from BJs but apparently NO ONE is ever in their bakery, because I cannot get a real person on the phone and there was no one there when I stopped in after work.
So I guess I will just go with Giant. Has anyone had their cake? It doesn't need to be gourmet or anything, it will be mostly for kids, I just don't want it to be gross.
Re: Cake: Giant vs. BJs
If there is a safeway by you, i'd recommend Safeway. I ordered one for Baby Dedication and it was awesome. Everyone raved about it. If I need to order another, I will definitely go back to Safeway.
I'd choose Giant with your choices, there cakes have always been good as well.
Giant cake good, Safeway cake better
Are you talking about the Abingdon Bj's? I've experienced that too!!
Giant cakes are good! I will also say....WalMart makes good cakes too. We got my DD's cupcake cake from there and they were soooo good!
No, this was the Bowie BJs. Guess its not just a fluke then. Thanks for all your input guys!
My MOH and her mom got the cake for the bridal shower they threw me from BJ's and it was delicious. They were unhappy with the decorating (I thought it was pretty!) but it tasted delicious.
DItto on Safeway cakes. They are the best.
My Cooking Blog
BJ's massacred my sisters birthday cake, I was so embarrassed...like someone went to town with puffy paint
Mars is my favorite...if that's not an option then Giant
I'm late on replying but thought I'd offer my 2 cents - I'm pretty partial to Costco cakes if you have a membership, or know someone that does. I get compliments on them all the time when I have them for parties. We belong to BJs too and I agree, I can never find anyone in their bakery and their order slip/system seems like a cluster-eff.
As for grocery store cakes, I loved SuperFresh cakes... but they are out of business now.
