Still on vacation and trying to stick to lurking only on TK and TN... but I have news to share.

They accepted our requests following the inspection, so that's good. It was nothing major, but some things we didn't feel like dealing with. The most costly of the group (not costly at all) is getting the septic tank cleaned/pumped at about $225. 

 We got the appraisal back this morning and it appraised for $20k less than our offer. So now we're dealing with that. We're hoping they'll drop the full $20k... if not, we'll need to figure something out.

They better freaking drop it because otherwise you can say you're pulling out of the deal and they have to start over from square one.  It's like a yard sale...you have to lower your bid because you have no idea if someone else will come by and like the same item!!

I'm slightly wondering why your relator didn't do the stats on the houses to know that it the offer was high.  If you stick it out and pay the extra 20k, that's roughly an extra 200 a month on your mortgage. BOOOOO.

Good Luck!! They should lower it,  they lowered ours for the same reason.  I want to say it was about 15 to 20K.

That would be awesome if they agree to drop the price.  I will keep my fingers crossed because I know how much you love this house!!

Try not to worry too much, hopefully they will lower it for you. It sounds like everything else seems to be working out well with the house, so let's hope this does too!

Good luck girlie! It seems odd that they are even able to get away with that. Our house appraises for like $30k less but that was from the recession bs.

Hopefully they drop the price for you! Depending on your mortgage they would have to for it to go through, plus you don't want to purchase a home with negative equity. No fun, try not to stress out while you are on vacation! I hope they come to there senses and drop the price. If not, it wasn't meant to be. Good luck!

We were all very surprised that it appraised for so low. I guess it is what it is. We will see what happens!

Good luck Chica. I agree with Christi hopefully this us just one last bump on the road. And of course the realtor wouldn't say nothing. He's trying to get a good commission A-hole hopefully they drop it for you and he gets a crappy one. Just try to enjoy your vacation. Things will work out you'll see
