Catnip tea

Does anyone know how to make catnip tea from fresh catnip?  Do lyou use just the leaves, or the blossoms too?  Will it make me crazy, then sleep for three days?  Or does it just taste like mint tea?

I've been giving my prunings to everyone I know who has cats, has neighbors with cats, or likes cats.  Now they run when they see me coming.  I have to do something with this crop!

Re: Catnip tea

  • According to my Rodale's herb encyclopedia, you can use both the leaves and the flowers in a tea. Says it's good for the digestion, and a mild sedative. Cautions against using it if you are pregnant and it may increase menstrual flow in some people.

Personally, I tend to just use the leaves. It just tastes like a mild mint tea to me. You could also dry it and store it for winter tea.
