Back home :) (and appraisal update)

Yay! I'm back home and looking forward to rejoining all of you actively again tomorrow :)

I started (and finished) the book this week for book club! I really enjoyed 90% of it, but I can't say I was happy about the ending... at all.

It also seems like the house really did appraise much lower than it should. The agents have sent along other comps to the appraiser and apparently now their supervisor has taken it over. They only gave a $12k credit for the garage (and anyone who's seen it knows it's worth WELL over $40k-- probably more like $50-60k) and they knocked a lot of the value off because the house is from 1926. All of the comps were from the 50s or 60s so they took a HUGE chunk off because it was older than those. We don't feel that's fair since everything inside has been replaced in the last 10 years (hot water heater, etc.) with new wood floors in 2009, new windows in 2010. The only thing that's original is the foundation and it's solid! It's in 1,000x better shape than the house from the 60s we were looking at before.

I've got a hunch we can get the appraisal up. But even if we can't, the sellers will likely lower the price. This house will be ours one way or another :)

I'll post tomorrow for a book club check-in and start getting discussion ideas and nominations for our next book!

I hope you all had an awesome week <3 While I was definitely going through TN and TK withdrawal, it was kind of nice to "unplug."
