Sorry I didn't get a chance to respond to your response on my post. Been driving for the past three days!!!!
But YES - it is LA as in Los Angeles. We lived in Hermosa Beach - so technically the South Bay
I also noticed you're a yoga instructor - I'm just finishing up my certification to be a Pilates Instructor.
So sounds like we have a lot in common - can't wait to meet you!!!
Re: **Namasteak**
I'm glad to hear you took 3 days to drive! We have done that drive many times (DH went to college out here, we have family in Dallas) and it is much more pleasant to take 3 days. Hopefully it was uneventful & unpacking isn't too horrible.
We're in Westwood, but I've never actually been down to Hermosa Beach. Since I worked in Santa Monica for a year I spent a lot of time in SM/Venice.
Where are you going to finish your Pilates cert in Dallas? What part of town are you moving to?
And yes, we should get together!
DH and I LOVE road trips - so it was a lot of fun!!! We only had our car (everything else is being brought here by the moving company) so it was great!!
Hermosa/South Bay is a super cool area. Small-town feel - EXPENSIVE but so worth living that close to the beach.
Not sure where I'm finishing up my hours - I only have my practice teaching hours left, so can do those anywhere (including my home).
DH works in Richardson, so I'm sure we'll try to find something in the area. We like Prestonwood. Right now we are living in a hotel for a MONTH.....needless to say, I am all over trying to find us a home ASAP.
Safe travels to you!!
A) Who did you use for the moving company? I think we are going with ABF...
A) We used Mergenthaler and they were AWESOME!!! We did the full-service - where they packed us up, loaded everything and then are storing it for us until we find a place to live. It wasn't as expensive as we expected, but DH's company is footing the bill so I guess it doesn't really matter
B2) I am actually still working for my company that's in LA - just from home part-time. Being a yogi, I'm sure you're familiar with them - Manduka (they make super awesome yoga mats/accessories). So I don't need to worry about a commute - at least not for now.
I will look into Mergenthaler, thanks for the recommendation! I used to work at the Starbucks that is at Campbell & 75 and grew up 5 minutes away, so I'm pretty familiar with the area. Prestonwood is fairly walk friendly (are you looking at the Beltline & Preston area?). Have you looked an farther north than Richardson/North Dallas? There is an amazing community in The Colony called Austin Ranch (we would live there, but it is too far from our new jobs).
Perfect - thank you for all of the tips!!! I'll mention them to our realtor - see what she can come up with
And yes - Manduka is an amazing company -- I am very lucky to work for them. Great work environment AND great products!!!
