Qualifications for teaching high school

Brusly High is looking to hire an immediate, emergency replacement for the french teacher that has gone missing. Mom thinks that I should apply. 

1. IDK if I'm qualified to teach HS

2. IDK if I'm qualified to teach french

3. IDK if I can make it through a day in a HS without at least trying to kill one of the kids.

1. Since you haven't passed the Praxis, I'm going to go out on a limb and say you aren't qualified to teach at all.

2. I still think you should apply b/c it's the west side and they probably don't care. Buy some Rosetta Stone; you'll be fine!

3. Drink. Heavily. You'll be fine!

1. IDK if I'm qualified to teach HS : Since you have a terminal degree a lot of places don't require a teaching certificate for the first year of teaching.

2. IDK if I'm qualified to teach french: Did you search the internet and see if you could find a French II textbook. Go to the last chapter and see how you do.

3. IDK if I can make it through a day in a HS without at least trying to kill one of the kids. This is me, but it's a paycheck, benefits, respectable, and good for the community.

-->If it were middle school, I would say they would probably accept you on an OFAT (out of field accreditation (?) to teach).  HS is a different issue.  Since they have to earn carnegie units, they have to have a teacher who is certified in that area.  Who knows, maybe they would take you, although I am willing to bet they would not.  Check out teachlouisiana.net

--> Just don't take anything they do/say personally.  They are a bunch of asses who will eat your lunch, given the chance.  Just let it roll off your back, and you'll be good to go.
