what could be wrong with the dishwasher?-update

Ok so I'm going to call a professional but maybe some of you ladies have had this happen-

last night before bed- I turned on the dw for a short wash I heard it start and went to bed- when I woke up there was water in the bottom and the cup that holds the soap hadn't opened...I looked at the dial and it didnt move through the cycle-

I cheack to see if anything was blocked and I checked to see if it blew a fuse or something then I tried to re-set by advancing the knob and putting in a new soap tablet- but nothing...

any thoughts?

**Don;t get me wrong I would be super psyched if I get a new dishwasher but I feel I should try to trouble shoot before I rip it out of the wall** 

(so the guy came and replaced the caps on the circut supply- and that was it...15 minutes and over 100 dollars later...guess my new dishwasher will have to wait...)

Happened to ours once when we didn't wash 2 plates well and a couple pieces of lettuce blocked the drain, which signaled it not to fill up past a certain point for safety (since it wouldn't drain). Did you check that just in case?
