Congress passed the debt celling bill,
And the only thing I really care about is that Congresswoman Giffords made her return to Congress. That was really amazing. I have mixed feelings about this bill, though. I guess at least we are getting paid now.
Re: Congress passed the debt celling bill,
Here here. Honestly, at one point it sounded to me like all they want is for "their" plan to be passed so that when elections come around, they can claim to be part of the amazing solution that saved us.
DH was watching a video of congress talking about the budget this weekend, and I had to leave the room. I mean, it really just sounded like a bunch of teenagers arguing. Nobody is getting into the nitty gritty of what must be done, they're all just trying to save face by making the other guy look bad.
I agree 100%. It isn't one side or the other either, it's both sides. They act like children.
I completely agree. I'll certainly be remembering this shiit when this November (and the next) rolls around.
They wont let us forget about it, since there will be more opportunities like this, budget planning and possible Government Shutdown, in September and November. We have to go through this all over again 2 times before Christmas!!! ::Headdesk:: (This is what I have been reading, I don't know if the source is true or not, so take me with a grain of salt.)
If this is the case though, OMG. I am really frustrated with Congress right now. LOL.
You're right on that, it still has to go through the Senate. But no one really expects there to be much of an issue with the Senate passing it.
I'm disgusted by this whole shambles. Disgusted. The overgrown deficit, the ridiculous spending, the threats about cutting off income for federal employees, the inability for any of them to see past the ends of their own pampered noses to the real human beings who are bearing the brunt of their years and years of petty squabbling.
And FWIW, I'm completely nonpartisan in my hatred. I despise both political parties and have never been so ashamed of my country.
See, my understanding was that since it's a "republican" plan (even though the head guys all came together and said they made a deal yesterday, that it was more the Senate that we needed to worry about passing it than the House. Is that not right?
I wish my history/politics classes in HS and college had taught me more about this kind of stuff. I feel so confused on most of it.
They are calling it a compromise. I don't think that this is just a "republican" thing. No one got everything they wanted.
From what I am reading and hearing (DH is watching the news), they don't expect the Senate to have any problems passing this.
